Recognizing its increasing prevalence, legislators have enacted a new law to strengthen efforts in addressing and preventing this pervasive problem. The updated Child Abuse training emphasizes awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), implicit bias, trauma, and offers targeted guidance for recognizing abuse in children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. New York law requires all mandated reporters who have completed prior training to complete the new, revised program by November 17, 2026.

Child Abuse Update full training (2.5 hours)
This training is intended for individuals who are:
- Mandated to complete New York State Child Abuse training, or
- School personnel Required to complete the Child Abuse Addendum training by November 17, 2026, and have not completed the previous Child Abuse update with us. (The updated addendum is incorporated into this training.)
Child Abuse Update/Addendum (15 minutes)
This training is intended for individuals who:
- Hold a license or certification from the NYS Office of Professions and completed the previous Child Abuse update between Nov. 1, 2022 and Aug. 21, 2025.
- Successfully completed the 2-hour training with us prior to September 1, 2025, and need to complete the updated Child Abuse training by November 17, 2026, for NYS Office of Teaching Initiatives.
- Any New York mandated reporter required to complete the latest child Abuse update by November 17, 2026.
